The short answer
Copy the review link from your Google Business Profile (“Ask for reviews”), turn it into a QR code, and print it 3–5 cm (1.2–2 in) wide on a receipt, counter card or packaging insert, with a sentence asking for honest feedback. Do not offer rewards for reviews and do not ask only happy customers; both are against Google’s policies.
How to make a QR code for Google reviews
Find your review link
Sign in to your Google Business Profile, open the “Ask for reviews” or “Get more reviews” option and copy the short link. This link opens the review form directly.
Create the code
Paste the link into a URL code. Save it as dynamic if you want scan counts and the ability to switch the destination to another review site later.
Write one honest line
Beside the code, print a short request such as “Tell us how we did”. Ask everyone, not only people who seem happy.
Put it at the moment of satisfaction
Place codes on the receipt, the counter next to the till, or inside the bag, at the moment people are leaving. Mounting it in a spot where they wait works well too.
Track and follow up
Check scan counts per placement, then compare with new reviews. Reply to every review, good or bad.
Size, distance and placement
- Best code type
- Dynamic URL code to your Google review link; static also works if the link never changes
- Where to find the link
- Google Business Profile → “Ask for reviews” / “Get more reviews” → copy link
- Receipt or card
- Held in the hand: 2.5–3 cm
- Counter or table card
- Read at 30–60 cm: 4–5 cm (1.6–2 in)
- Wording
- Neutral and honest: “Tell us how we did”; no rewards, no selecting only happy customers
- Placement
- Receipt, counter next to the till, packaging insert, checkout screen
- What to measure
- Scans per placement against new reviews on your profile
Static or dynamic for a review code?
A static code works if your review link never changes. A dynamic code costs nothing extra on the free plan and gives you two advantages: you can see how many people scanned each placement, and if the link changes or you want to ask for reviews on another site, you edit the destination instead of reprinting counter cards. Because the printed pattern holds only a short link, it is also easier to scan than one that embeds a long Google address.
Common mistakes
Tip: use a different code on the receipt, on the counter and in the bag. In a few weeks the scan counts show which placement actually produces review attempts.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get my Google review link?
Open your Google Business Profile, choose the option to ask for reviews and copy the link. Turn that link into a QR code.
Can I give customers a discount for leaving a review?
No. Google’s policies prohibit offering or accepting incentives for reviews. Ask honestly and thank people afterwards.
Where should I put a Google review QR code?
Where customers are finishing: receipts, the counter near the till, packaging inserts and checkout screens. Make the code 3–5 cm wide.
Will a QR code get me more reviews?
It removes friction, so more people will review when asking is easy. You still need to provide a good experience and ask politely.
