The short answer
Pick the Diwali lamp theme in the Style tab: the code gets a diya motif between its dots and a decorative ring around it, error correction switches to level H, and it remains a standard QR code for ordinary camera apps. Print it at least 5 cm (2 in) across the ring, which keeps the square code inside at about 2.5 cm, put it on a light, matte surface, and save it as a dynamic code so the offer or greeting can change after the festival.

How to make a Diwali QR code
Pick one purpose per item
A greeting video on cards, an order page on sweet-box labels, festival offers on the shop counter, directions and timings on a puja invitation.
Create a dynamic code
Save a dynamic URL code for each printed item, so you can count scans per item and change the page later.
Apply the Diwali lamp theme
In Style, open Holiday & art themes and choose Diwali lamp. The diya sits inside the code, and a light disc with a beaded ring frames it; the disc covers the code’s margin, so the ring never crowds the dots.
Size it for the ring
The ring takes up space around the code. Measure the square code itself, not the whole circle, when you check the 2.5 cm minimum.
Proof on gold and colored stock
Diwali packaging is often gold, maroon or foil-laminated. Print the code on a light label or panel and scan the proof before the full run.
Size, distance and placement
- Code type
- Dynamic URL code with the Diwali lamp theme; standard QR with level H error correction
- Greeting card or invitation
- At least 5 cm (2 in) across the ring, so the square code inside is about 2.5 cm
- Sweet-box or gift label
- A light label at least 5 cm (2 in) square; not on foil-laminated board
- Shop counter or poster
- Read from 1 m: about 10 cm (4 in) for the code itself
- Contrast
- Dark dots on the light center; the gold lamp and ring are decoration
- Dates
- Diwali falls on 8 November 2026 and 29 October 2027; print 3–4 weeks before
- After the festival
- Repoint to a thank-you page, a new-year offer or your regular menu
Why dynamic works for Diwali
Diwali sales run on a short calendar: early-bird offers, the five festival days, then the new-year season that follows. One printed sweet box or shop poster can serve all three if the code behind it is dynamic, opening pre-orders first, the festival offer next and a thank-you or loyalty page afterwards. Scan counts per item show whether the boxes or the counter display brought customers back. The theme costs nothing on any plan; placing your own photo inside the code is a Pro feature.
Common mistakes
Tip: on sweet boxes, link to a page with ingredients and allergens as well as the greeting. Gift boxes change hands, and the person who opens one may not know what is inside.
Frequently asked questions
Can a QR code have a diya lamp design and still scan?
Yes. The lamp is drawn between the dots the scanner reads, the corner markers stay solid, and error correction is set to H automatically. Test a printed proof before a large run.
How big should a Diwali QR code be on a sweet box?
Keep the square code at least 2.5 cm wide, which means about 5 cm including the decorative ring, printed on a light, matte label.
Is there a Holi theme too?
Yes. Holi colors is a separate theme with a color-splash motif in a scalloped rosette outline, and it is also free.
Can I put my shop logo in the Diwali code?
You can add a logo, but a large logo competes with the lamp. Keep it small, or choose either the logo or the motif.
