QR Codes for Car Dealerships

Give every car on the lot its own page, and keep the sticker useful after the car is gone.

This code is real. Point your phone camera at it.

The short answer

Put a dynamic QR code on each vehicle’s window sticker, 5–8 cm (2–3 in) wide for someone standing beside the car, and point it at that vehicle’s page or a test-drive form. Generate codes in bulk from your inventory feed (CSV on the Pro plan, or the REST API on the Business plan), and when a car sells, repoint its code to similar stock.

How to use QR codes on vehicle window stickers

  1. Decide what the sticker opens

A page with photos, specs, price and a “book a test drive” button beats the main inventory page. One page per vehicle, identified by VIN or stock number.

  2. Generate codes from your inventory

For a lot of 100 cars, create codes in a batch from a CSV (Pro). If inventory changes daily, the Business plan’s REST API lets your system create codes automatically.

  3. Print on the window sticker

Add the code to the existing sticker template, at least 5 cm wide with a clear border, dark ink on a white area. Do not print it on tinted glass directly.

  4. Place where a visitor stands

Mount on the inside of the side or rear window at about chest height, not the windshield, which reflects the sky.

  5. Repoint on sale

When a car sells, switch its code to a similar-vehicles page. Late visitors still find something to look at.

Why dynamic with an inventory feed

A lot’s inventory turns over constantly. Static codes tied to individual vehicle pages die when the page is removed, leaving printed stickers pointing nowhere. Dynamic codes decouple the sticker from the page: you create a code for each vehicle, and when the car leaves the lot you redirect it. With the Business plan API you can create or update codes from your own system as vehicles arrive and sell.

Common mistakes

One code for the whole lot.A visitor standing at a car wants that car. Make one code per vehicle.
Printing on tinted glass.Tint cuts contrast. Print on a white sticker area.
Windshield glare. The windshield mirrors the sky. Use the side or rear window at chest height.
A dead page after the sale.A static link to a removed listing shows an error. Use a dynamic code and repoint it.
A heavy inventory page.On cellular data, a heavy page loses the buyer. Keep the vehicle page light.

Tip: name every code with the stock number. Searching the dashboard for a stock number is faster than hunting through dozens of identical-looking names.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create a QR code for each car?

Generate codes from a CSV of stock numbers and vehicle page links on the Pro plan, or create them from your inventory system with the REST API on the Business plan.

How big should the code be on a window sticker?

About 5–8 cm (2–3 in) wide, dark on a white area, for someone scanning from beside the car.

What do I do when the car sells?

Edit the dynamic code’s destination to a similar-vehicles page or your inventory. The sticker keeps working.

Can I use my own domain for the short links?

Yes, on the Business plan: one custom short-link domain per account, so codes show your dealership’s address.
